Launched in 2002, MCC’s High School Program offers free training consisting of distance education and Saturday sessions. In 2013, the Transylvanian Secondary School Program addressing the Transylvanian youth was also launched with its Saturday sessions being held in Kolozsvár (Cluj-Napoca) and Székelyudvarhely (Odorheiu Secuiesc).
Complementing the secondary school curriculum, the Program aims to help students to make their career choice, prepare them to successful further studies and provide an initial support for planning a longer career path. When drawing up the syllabus, MCC lays emphasis on topics and skills that cannot really be fit into the confines of secondary education but may be part of university courses. In addition to education, we also organize summer and winter camps and study trips for the students where students can build a real MCC community.
E-learning courses
Students participating in the Program can choose from a variety of online courses to complement their high school studies. The students can choose the order of the courses freely. Any number of courses can be taken up until graduation and the student gets a certificate for every successfully completed course before graduation. Our students can access the Collegium’s e-learning site with their own access code and profile which they get by e-mail after a successful admission procedure. Video lectures and bibliographies are made available on a weekly basis on the e-learning platform, mostly in the form of texts that can be understood and processed by high school students, usually made by a foreign or Hungarian teacher. On average, students can expect to receive 10-20 pages of literature per week and one 10-15 minute video lecture.
Our optional e-learning courses are 4, 8 and 2x8 weeks long. The start and end dates of our training courses are designed so as not to burden students at the beginning of the academic year and at the end of the semester or year.
In addition to reading materials and videos, the system also includes optional weekly assignments. To complete the semester, and thus to obtain the program certificate, a certain number of points must be accumulated, which varies from course to course. Details and information on how to collect points can be found in the e-learning system under each course description and in the Mentor Tips section. Throughout the semester, students' assignments are marked by our course tutors, who provide personalized comments and suggestions for improvement.

Saturday trainings
From autumn 2021, we organize Saturday trainings in two Transylvanian cities (Kolozsvár/Cluj-Napoca and Székelyudvarhely/Odorheiu Ssecuiesc), where we offer scientific and educational lectures and practical workshops for small groups of students, providing applicable knowledge and skills. The all-day program runs from 10am to 4pm and requires pre-registration.
The main fields of our training sessions:
- communication skills, self-reflection;
- argumentation techniques and debating;
- public speaking and presentation skills;
- career orientation and self-awareness;
Participation on Saturday trainings is not compulsory, but these events are ideal opportunities for the High School Program members to get to know each other. Important: the High School Program certificate will only be issued to students who have attended at least two Saturdays in a semester. Students who are unable to attend Saturday trainings due to lack of opportunities (academic competition, sports, school events, etc.) may make up their attendance with an optional assignment.
Talent camps
All our admitted students can participate in our winter and summer camps, which are primarily aimed at building community. The 3-4 day camps offer team-building games, competitions, debating exercises and other professional activities. The Collegium reimburses travel expenses for those in need.
English and Romanian language courses
Our English and Romanian language courses are available in all our cities from September 2021. Students learn in small groups in both languages. Feedback from parents shows that the Romanian and English language lessons have a positive impact on their children, thanks to being practice and conversation-oriented. The students enjoy attending the classes because they learn useful language skills in a creative and practical way.
Themed trips
The themed trips take students to special places, offer an unusual range of professional and cultural activities, organizes meetings with teachers, researchers and artists. A trip lasts from Friday to Sunday, and offers social and cultural experiences specific to a region. Performance and activity in the High School Program are taken in consideration at the applications.
Club afternoons
The aim of the weekly club afternoons organized in all our training centers is to offer a quality leisure time with a variety of professional, cultural and skills development activities in an informal educational setting. At the same time, they provide a social space for high school students to meet and learn from fellow students of the Collegium.
Applications
In addition to our ongoing professional events, we also offer a range of thematic programs for high school students during the school year, which allow them to further develop their professional skills, participate on our study trips in Transylvania and abroad, and take part in week-long thematic excursions. All students are notified of these programs.
Competitions
Our history, debate and problem-solving competitions (National High School Problem Solving Competition, Bonus Intra, MCC Debate) give our students the opportunity to learn from the best professionals and meet members of the MCC University Program. Our competitions help to develop presentation skills, teamwork, creativity and critical thinking, and the winning teams will receive valuable gifts and unique professional experiences.
